a Brief Update.....

The last month or so has been busy for us. As many of you know, we've recently moved. Right during Thanksgiving week actually. Check your emails for updated addresses and phone numbers for most of you. There are a variety of reasons for moving this time, one of them being cheaper rent. It's a nice little 2 bed, 2 bath apartment with a patio and allows our pets. It's nicely located for us, right in between Matthew's work and the kids' school. In Utah we have an open policy thing they passed about 2 yrs ago that allows children to attend schools they're not zoned for if that school has an open policy to permit it. So since ours does and the children have good attendance and behaviors, they're allowed to continue the school year with their friends.
I'm spending most of this week unpacking and organizing and rearranging. I'm shooting to have everything tidy enough so I can put up our Christmas decorations this weekend.
Also, be checking your emails (if I have your addy), I'll be asking for address updates so I can be sure to send cards to the correct addresses ( maybe I'll actually get the cards out this year!).
These last two weeks have been more headaches than just moving. The kids have alternately taken turns being sick ( with the exception of baby Aislinn, thankfully!) First Corbin had a virus and was home sick for a day, then Celeste the following week with a stomach bug and had to actually go back and forth with us camping out in a sleeping bag and a pillow on the floor while we finished moving. Then Corbin somehow hurt his toe and ended up with a strep infection in it (I didn't know you could get that in your toe??.....) and so Friday night it was so painful for him we ended up in urgent care where they numbed and lanced it. That was fun. My son really isn't the brave one in the family. He screamed bloody murder when they were numbing it and scared poor Celeste and Aislinn to death. Celeste cried almost as much as he did because she was sad to see her brother in pain.  Then he panicked when the doctor was cleaning his toe up. Fortunately he didn't even notice when she lanced it or else he would have freaked out. Since viruses and infections are getting more stubborn these days, they have to be treated more aggressively than they used to need, so Corbin - the kid who HATES taking medications and would rather have his toe cut off than have to take medicine- has to take 6 ml of one antibiotic 4x a day and 15ml of another 2x a day for 10 days. THAT'S been quite a battle. He gags and over half the time throws his medicine back up. I've tried getting him to understand that it's all about mindset and he's even taken it once and said how easy it was, only to fight it the next time he had to take it.
Tomarrow Corbin is going on a skiing fieldtrip with the 4th grade tomarrow and is really looking forward to that. He's been explaining all about how to ski as they've taught him at school. We went tonight to get him fitted for the boots and skis. I'm happy for him. I remember my own skiing field trip in the 5th grade, which I was only able to go for, but not participate in, but I still had fun.
 Anyways, more later!
